Born Learning Campaign
United Way Success By 6, in partnership with the Ad Council and Civitas, has launched the Born Learning Campaign. All children are born learning, and parents and caregivers of young children are the first and most important teacher an infants and young child's life. Born Learning provides parents and caregivers with simple and practical tools and techniques to help make everyday moments in life teachable moments in the life of a child.
Parents and caregivers are encouraged to contact United Way Success By 6 to receive information on ways to help children learn. You can also visit BornLearning.org for more information. And look for Born Learning public service announcements, produced by the Ad Council, on KWQC TV6 and WQAD TV8.
The printing and reproduction of Born Learning materials was provided by The Moline Foundation, Community Foundation, and Fidlar Technologies.
Born Learning Trails
United Way Success By 6 has also been working to install Born Learning Trails across the Quad Cities. Born Learning Trails are a series of fun, educational signs designed to encourage interaction between children and adults. Each of the ten signs helps to prepare children for school by promoting creative ways for children to learn. Along with the signs, trail goers will find a series of colorful ABC’s, shapes and a hopscotch game painted on the sidewalk.
To date, volunteers have installed four Born Learning Trails in the Quad Cities. Their locations and sponsors are:
1. Fejervary Park, 1800 W 12 Street, Davenport, IA This was the first trail installed in the Quad Cities and it was completed as a United Way Day of Caring volunteer project.
2. Lindsey Park, 2200 E River Drive, Davenport, IA Deloitte & Touche
3. Marquette Park, 3200 N Marquette Street, Davenport, IA Deloitte & Touche
